Ghost

“Ghost,” is one the songs that came along a little later in our writing process, but quickly became a favorite. Porter came in with the main riff, which immediately sparked inspiration, and seemed to make the rest of the song come together before we knew it. As we started showing our demos to some friends for feedback, “Ghost,” was at the top of almost everyone's list, so we knew it had to be one of the first songs to take into the studio. The only problem was, nothing was coming to me lyrically.

Aaron Langford of Seven Year Witch, was one of the people who gravitated towards the song early on, so when I asked if he wanted to co-write on anything we knew exactly where to start. Aaron showed up with a verse melody and the opening lines, and from there we went back and forth, line by line, until “Ghost” was born. If you're a Seven Year Witch fan, you can likely pick out Aaron's stylistic influence on the song.

With the song recorded, it came time to figure out a music video. We kicked around a few ideas, but landed on a culmination of homages to some of our favorite ghost related entertainment. Our friends introduced us to a sweet lady who was willing to let us use her home as the set for the video and it ended up being one of the most fun videos we have ever been a part of. We hope you guys have enjoyed listening to the song and watching the video as much as we enjoyed making them! You can find “Ghost” on all of your favorite platforms.

Burn It Down

When Hego Crazyboy first got together, we had no idea what we wanted the band to sound like. We knew we wanted to play rock and roll, but how heavy? How groovy? Did we want big hooks and melodies? Which influences should we pull from? Instead of trying to prematurely define ourselves, we decided to start writing and see what came out.

We figured that if we wrote about 20 songs, at least a few of them would start sounding like a cohesive mix, and that would tell us what the project should sound like. The very first day we got together, I threw out a riff that I had been sitting on for awhile but couldn't figure out where to go with it. After just a few minutes, ideas started flying and before we knew it, we had a song. This wasn't the final version, but it proved how well this group could write together, and with a few tweaks, “Burn It Down,” was born.

As we closed in on our 20 song goal, it was time to announce the band, start booking shows, and prepare our first release. But which song? Every member had different favorites, but the one we all seemed to agree represented us the best as a whole was the first song we ever wrote. We entered the studio with our co-producer Zach Neal and in what seemed like the blink of an eye, we had a mastered track. With a limited budget, Beau Anderson of Seven Year Witch let us hang black sheets all over his garage and turn it into the perfect set for a music video. Our buddy Owen Dills, blew us away by filming everything on an iPhone and his editing made the video something we are incredibly proud of.

On 8/25/23 we released, “Burn It Down,” to incredible support from our audience. It means the world to us that the first song we ever wrote became our first release, and that so many people have been checking it out. If you haven't heard it yet, please give it a spin on your favorite platform, check out the music video on YouTube, and don't forget to like, comment, subscribe, and share! Thank you so much for your support!
